On July 9th, 2026, Chris Obdam, CEO of Betty Blocks, walked an audience through the four pillars that define real AI App Generation. Prompt-first, governed by design, system-connected, and code you can trust. He opened with the warning most IT leaders already feel. AI has increased activity across the enterprise. It has not increased production output. One organization started 4,000 AI initiatives. Only 5 reached production.


The core argument: activity without control is not productivity. Every ungoverned initiative becomes an island nobody owns, connected to nothing, quietly burning budget. To prove it, Chris built a customer portal live from a single prompt and connected it to JD Edwards. Then he generated an MCP Server on top of it and downloaded the finished React and WebAssembly code on stage. That is Prompt-to-Meta-to-Code: the governed path from intent to production Betty Blocks has been building since day one.

There is now a spectrum of tools claiming to generate enterprise software with AI. Vibe coding tools are fast and accessible, but ungoverned and not built for enterprise use. AI coding assistants like Claude Code require significant engineering work to reach production.


Legacy low-code platforms offer structure and governance, but were not built for AI speed. None of them resolve the tension. That is what enterprise AI Application Generation is built to do, and not every platform claiming that label has earned it.

What happens to your data when you download the code?

Downloading gives you the React frontend and the WebAssembly backend. Connect a CI/CD pipeline and the rest happens automatically, or download your data through My Betty Blocks and import it into your own database. Every downloaded project ships with a README to get you running.

Does one small change regenerate the entire app?

Yes, and that is by design. Every change updates your development environment immediately, but nothing reaches production until you merge or promote it. That is why Betty Blocks always recommends a DTAP setup: develop, test, accept, then go live.

Won't governance block low risk solutions from shipping?

No. The moment you block that first spark of inspiration, people go find other tools instead. Safe applications can move to production through role-based rules, not a manual review every time. Going live still means access by invitation, never public by default, keeping the four eyes principle intact.apts. It is a visual representation of your app structure that updates automatically when the application changes. The same applies to requirements - with AI, those stay in sync rather than going in a drawer and becoming irrelevant. If ERP data changes, we version it and surface it through the model.
